A Brief History of HorseTV...

From 2001 to 2005, HorseTV was a programming service based in Houston, Texas providing two-hour long blocks of equestrian-oriented programming to satellite-based channels and independent television stations, reaching 8+ million homes. The Idea was great and the name ”HorseTV” was simply the best in the world.

In April 2005, HorseTV, the brand name, was acquired by an investment group from the television industry, which relocated the company to Calabasas, California. That company was called the HorseTV Media Group, Inc.

Unfortunately, the new CEO and staff from the cable television world had no equestrian background or relationships. After a rapid personnel buildup to fifty-seven people in less than five months, the renamed, subscription-based HorseTV Channel was launched in October, 2005 on several minor cable systems.

Sadly, by early 2007 it was clear that the new business plan enthusiastically developed in the first months of 2005 would never achieve the cable and satellite distribution so optimistically projected.

In December of 2007, the assets were acquired by a private investment group based in Dallas, Texas. Shortly after, operations were shut down and the assets moved back to Texas, where the retooling and re-positioning of the HorseTV brand began under a new corporate ownership. The failed HorseTV Media Group, Inc. ceased to exist.

In preparation for our 2009 launch, all of 2008 was spent on market due diligence, beta testing various components and developing and designing the new HorseTV business plan.

Technology and various aspects of industry acceptance were tested, including (1) the launch and implementation of an initial advertising-supported, free-to-view web streaming model, (2) the advertising revenue structure, and (3) the acceptance and development of subscription-based and pay-per-view models.

Additionally, proprietary cost-effective technology was developed, allowing for television broadcast-quality coverage and distribution of any equestrian event across the globe. For the first time in history, multiple live events for any discipline and breed can be broadcast simultaneously, and can be archived in their entirety for later viewing.

In our re-positioning of HorseTV we solidified a business plan and model best suited for commercial success while providing the most service to the industry.

Today Horse TV provides a unified worldwide television platform made possible by current multi-media and internet technology. Advertising in the new internet television medium provides verifiable, accountable tracking of advertising dollars. ROI to sponsors is critical to the health and growth of the equestrian sector in its march to the mainstream. Now Horse TV can offer returns to committed sponsors and advertisers and provide the equestrian industry with a 'stake in the ground' alongside other mainstream, professional & amateur sports and lifestyles.
